Vision
Welcome to Read the Bible APP! Read the Bible returns today's church to the tradition of believers reading the Bible together and listening to God's words. The common reading of the Bible by believers is the basis of life for God's people in the Old and New Testaments. The reading of Scripture reminds believers to remember God’s works and their identity as God’s people. This practice is found throughout the Bible, in the reading of the law in the days of Moses, in the reforms of King Josiah, and in the restoration of the people of Israel by Ezra.
In the time of Jesus, the centerpiece of Jewish life was the reading of the Law and the Prophets aloud in the synagogue. Early Christians also maintained this tradition, reading aloud the letters of the apostle Paul when believers gathered together. The apostle Paul himself attached great importance to reading the Bible. He taught everyone in 1 Timothy chapter 4:13: "13Before I come, devote yourself to the reading of the Scriptures, to exhortations, and to teaching." Now, you can discuss this with
your group Let’s read the Bible together. As God’s people, God’s Word is our bread of life. Read and listen to the Bible together often, and let us love God’s words as easily as we love delicious food. May you all grow in the word of God and use the Bible to equip yourself to become God's workers! Thank you for joining us and let us read the Bible together! The
meeting suggested
that when you are preparing to start your own Bible reading group, it is best to have a printed copy version of the Bible for participants to read.
Please discuss with your colleagues to decide whether to choose a 20-minute, 30-minute, 45-minute or 60-minute reading plan. It takes 90 hours to listen to the entire Bible.
Each Bible reading includes: two Psalms as opening and closing prayers, an Old Testament passage, and a New Testament passage. If you use the 45-minute and 60-minute Bible reading plans, you can read the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice in two and a half years.
We recommend pausing between Bible readings to allow everyone to reflect prayerfully on what they have heard. Pauses are marked in each section.
Each section is embedded with Bible Project videos that you can selectively play. Videos provide background information such as narrative structure, themes, and history. These videos are fun, easy-to-understand, and can help congregants deepen their understanding of the scriptures.
At the end, thank everyone for coming and encourage them to keep participating. Discussion sessions are also optional, but the most important thing is to listen to God’s word together.
